Art Gallery Programs

Scott Gallery ::: Erburu Gallery ::: Discovering Art

Scott Gallery of American Art

The Scott Gallery shows the development of American art over three centuries. This program takes students from the colonial period and the first years of the republic through the antebellum period, the post-Civil War era, to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

  • 4th through 12th grade students
  • Program begins at 10:00 a.m. 1½ hours in length
  • Accommodates a maximum of 40 students per day
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
    • October 18 through December 8, 2005
      (No tours November 22 through November 24)
    • January 3 through May 25, 2006
      (No tours April 11 through April 13)

    Erburu Gallery

    New this year, the masterpieces once displayed in The Huntington Gallery will be seen in the Erburu Gallery. Students will explore the people and places of eighteenth-century Europe looking at portraits and landscapes by British and French artists.

    • 4th through 12th grade students
    • Program begins at 10:00 a.m. 1½ hours in length
    • Accommodates a maximum of 70 students per day
    • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
    • October 18 through December 8, 2005
      (No tours November 22 through November 24)
    • January 3 through May 25, 2006
      (No tours April 11 through April 13)

    Discovering Art

    A program for primary grade levels that introduces children to art using basic concepts such as line, shape, color, and texture. This program includes a hands-on activity. The Erburu Gallery or the Scott Gallery of American Art is available for this program.

    When you register, please specify whether you prefer the Erburu Gallery or the Scott Art Gallery. If the gallery is not specified, The Huntington will assign you to a gallery.

    • K through 3rd grade students
    • Program begins at 10:00 a.m. 1¼ hours in length
    • Accommodates a maximum of 40 students per day
    • Fridays only
      • October 21 through December 9, 2005
        (No tours November 25)
      • January 6 through May 26, 2006
        (No tours April 14)
