Common name:  Mexican Evening Primrose

Notes: Blooms during the daytime despite its name; has a wonderful fragrance

Common name:  Ipe, Pink Trumpet Tree

Family:  Bignoniaceae

Region of Origin:  Brazil

Location in Garden:  Arboretum Car Park D-EIII; also on both sides of Colorado Boulevard from Allen to Sierra Madre Boulevard

Notes: Pink flowers

 

Species:  Lavatera thuringiaca

Common name:  Tree Mallow

Family:  Malvaceae

Notes: Large plant

 

Species:  Prunus persica 'Icicle'

Common name:  White Flowering Peach

Family:  Rosaceae

Location in Garden:  Arboretum Car Park E-FII

Common name:  Mexican Buckeye

Family:  Sapindaceae

Notes: Small pink flowers, interesting seed pods with four chambers

Common name:  Golden Trumpet Tree

Family:  Bignoniaceae

Notes: Yellow flower clusters; flowers more sparsely than the pink version

 

Species:  Eriobotrya deflexa

Common name:  Bronze Loquat

Family:  Rosaceae

Notes: New foliage is bronze colored; no edible fruit; fragrant flowers

Common name:  Chinese Fringe Tree

Notes: Fragrant white flowers

Common name:  Dogwood
