The Rose Garden

Volunteering in The Rose Garden

There are many opportunities to volunteer in the Rose Garden:

  • Docents conduct tours and answer questions during the hours that the Huntington Gardens are open
  • Every Tuesday, Volunteers meet in the garden to deadhead the roses
  • One Saturday each month, a group of Volunteers meet to propagate roses and do other projects in the garden
  • The Rose Garden newsletter, Subrosa, is a place for writers and photographers to share their talents
  • During January and early February, Volunteers prune the bushes in the Rose Garden
  • Volunteers are involved in the planning, preparation for, and hosting of special events in the Rose Garden, including the Spring/Fall Rose Festivals and The Great Rosarians event each January
  • Special projects sponsored by the Curator are always available for Volunteers, including activities such as updating catalogs and developing educational materials

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mikki Heydorff, Volunteer Programs Coordinator, by email at or by phone at 626-405-2126.
